Can you trust a web page designer to know what is and what is not allowed for your web page? The answer is no. The web page designer probably is not aware of the various restrictions put on web pages due to your license to practice medicine. You cannot mislead the public with any unsubstantiated claims. Many states do not allow patient testimonials. This is a restriction often honored in the breach. Additionally, patient privacy must be maintained on your website. Be careful what links are published on your web page. Make sure any links to articles or videos are “live” and working. Make sure nothing in any of those links are offensive or violate patient privacy. It is always best to have a health law attorney review your web page before it goes live. Just because another physician has something on her/his page, does not mean it is alright for you to do it too!
